A growing number of men are buying diamond neckties and jewelry that features a diamond instead of the usual sterling silver.
According to a survey by the jewelry industry trade group the American Jewelers Association, a quarter of men and 30 percent of women ages 18 to 44 said they have worn a diamond necklace or necklace featuring a pearl.
The group’s survey also found that about a third of men (34 percent) said they had worn a gemstone necklace and jewelry featuring a gem.
The most popular type of diamond necklace is the “super” size, which is more than three times the diameter of a standard sterling silver or platinum necklace.
The super size, also called “super-diamond,” is most commonly seen in sportsmen and is more expensive.
The diamond ring is another popular choice.
The study also found, though, that women are more likely to wear diamond rings and bracelets that are less expensive than the regular ones.
The study did not have information about which jewelry types were most popular among men.
The survey was released Tuesday, days before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning that a growing number Americans may be buying jewelry with fake diamonds.
It said that consumers should avoid buying jewelry that contains fake diamonds unless the item is genuine and the seller has the proper certifications.
